Cornhole Terminology

Every sport has a vocabulary all its own. Football players get sacked, baseball players pop-out, golfers get the yips. Cornhole is no different. If you're new to Cornhole, this helpful guide will have you sounding like a seasoned pro in no time at all. Here's a brief guide to some of the lingo you might hear at a cornhole tournament.

Backstop
A bag that's on the board just behind the hole. You can throw more aggressive sliding shots because even if they go over the hole, they'll hit the backstop and roll back into the hole.
In Use: You got a backstop; go for the hole.

Blocker
A bag that blocks the hole.
In Use: Put up a blocker right in front of the hole.

Cornfusion
When the players don't remember the score, or whose turn it is, etc.
In Use: We were all drunk, no one could remember the score, there was a lot of cornfusion.

Four-Bagger
Used to describe a player putting all four of his/her bags in the hole.
In Use: He started the game off with back-to-back four-baggers, so we knew we were in trouble.

Glide n' Grip aka Slick n' Stick
Describes bags that are two-sided, with each side performing a different purpose. One side will grip, good for throwing blockers. The other side glides, suitable for throwing a sliding shot that travels down the board into the hole.
In Use: I got a new set of Glide n' Grip bags from cornhole.org, and they're awesome!

Hole Out
When a team is in a situation in which they have to make all of their remaining bags in order to have a chance at having the game continue past the current round.
In Use: For us to have any chance at all, we have to hole out.

Honors
The team that gets to throw first is said to have the honors.
In Use: Your honors, your honor.

No Blood
The two throwing players cancelled each others points exactly, there's no scoring for the round.
In Use: They have one in and none on, we have 3 on and none in...NO BLOOD!

Push(er)
A throw designed to push another one of your bag(s) into the hole while having a chance to go in itself.
In Use: That bag in front of the hole, is it close enough for me to push it in?

Rainbow
A shot that goes high in the air hits the board with a thud and doesn't move much.
In Use: Stop throwing rainbows, you jackalope; we need these to make it to the hole.

Roller
Throwing a bag so that it will roll over other bags on its way to the hole.
In Use: There are bags in the way, I'm going to try to throw a roller over the top of them.

Skunked
Finishing a game with no points.
In Use: How does it feel? Being skunked? I wouldn't know.

Slider
A shot that hits near the front of the board and slides into the hole.
In Use: The board's open; put a slider right down main street.

Wormburner
A throw with a very low trajectory, that never makes it too far from the ground. They usually have too much momentum to stay on the board.
In Use: That was a wormburner; put a little more arch on it.
