ACO-Approved Cornhole Bags
Shop cornhole bags from manufacturers and series listed for American Cornhole Organization play. This collection is intended for players who want verified ACO eligibility rather than bags described only as professional, tournament-style or regulation size.
Approval belongs to the exact manufacturer and bag series—not automatically to every product made by the brand. Before purchasing bags for an ACO event, confirm that the manufacturer, series and current approval status match the official ACO listing.
What Are ACO-Approved Cornhole Bags?
ACO-approved cornhole bags are bags that satisfy the American Cornhole Organization’s equipment requirements and approval process for use in qualifying ACO competition.
The official ACO rules state that approved bags may be used at ACO Tour events and describe the specifications bags must maintain. Those specifications currently include:
- Plastic resin or bead fill
- A weight between 15.75 and 16.25 ounces
- A maximum flat thickness of 1.5 inches
- A minimum flat thickness of 1.125 inches
- A minimum width of 5.75 inches at the narrowest point
- A maximum diagonal width of 8.25 inches at the widest point
- A clearly printed manufacturer name or logo and series name
The rules also require players to maintain bags in an unaltered, clean and competition-appropriate condition. Bags may be inspected by an ACO official, and the event official has final authority over equipment eligibility.
How ACO Bag Approval Works
Manufacturers participating in the ACO Bag Partnership Program must submit bag series for review. The ACO states that a bag cannot be promoted or sold as approved through the program until the required agreement and fees are completed, the bag is submitted and approved, and the series appears on the official approved list.
Changes to the bag template, materials or series design may require a new submission. For that reason, approval should be verified by exact series rather than assumed from the manufacturer’s name alone.
Use the official ACO approved-bag list to confirm the current manufacturer and series before entering an ACO event.
ACO Approved Does Not Mean Every Bag Is the Same
ACO approval confirms that a bag series meets applicable equipment and approval requirements. It does not mean that every approved bag has the same speed, fabric, hand feel or playing characteristics.
ACO-approved products may differ in:
- Fast-side fabric
- Slow-side or carpet fabric
- Manufacturer-reported speed ratings
- Bag fullness and flexibility
- Break-in characteristics
- Response to humidity and board conditions
- Suitability for slides, blocks, cuts or roll-style shots
No single approved bag is automatically best for every player. The right series depends on throwing style, preferred level of control and typical playing conditions.
How to Choose ACO-Approved Cornhole Bags
Choose the Series Before the Design
Start with the approved series and its playing characteristics. Color and artwork matter, but the series determines the underlying fabric combination, fill and intended style of play.
A design or colorway should remain in this collection only when it belongs to an approved manufacturer and series.
Compare the Fast and Slow Sides
Most competitive bags use two different playing surfaces. One side generally provides more control, while the other moves more freely up the board.
Consider whether you need:
- A slower side for blocks and board control
- A faster side for slides and pushes
- A carpet or hybrid surface for specialty shots
- A balanced combination for changing board conditions
Treat Speed Ratings as Manufacturer-Specific
Cornhole bag speed ratings are not standardized across all manufacturers. A rating of 8 from one brand should not automatically be treated as identical to an 8 from another.
Each product page should identify whether a speed rating is:
- Published by the manufacturer
- An editorial classification created by CornholeBags.com
- Provided through customer feedback
Do not present an estimated rating as a manufacturer-issued specification.
Consider Board and Weather Conditions
Humidity, dust, temperature, board finish, bag wear and break-in can all affect perceived speed. Players who compete on different boards may prefer to own more than one approved series rather than depending on a single fabric combination.
Check the Number of Bags Included
Most competitive listings include four bags, but product quantities vary. Confirm whether the listing contains:
- A set of four bags
- A set of eight bags
- One color or multiple team colors
- A carrying case or other accessory
Current ACO-Approved Manufacturers and Series Available Here
Competition Cornhole
The current official ACO list includes Competition Cornhole series such as Blitz, Dominator, Havoc, Outlaw and Reaper. Only products from the exact listed series should be labeled ACO approved in this collection.
Rocket Cornhole Bags
The current official ACO list includes Rocket Cornhole Bags series such as Astro, Zero Hour, Bring It!, Retro, Stage 1, Firestorm, VooDoo, Viral, Ground Control and Stage 2. Individual colorways may vary, but the underlying series must match the official listing.
Approval lists can change, so confirm the current status before publishing new products or relying on a product for an upcoming tournament.
Approved Bags Must Remain Competition-Ready
The official ACO rules state that bags must maintain the approved specifications despite wear. Players should not alter seams, replace or modify fill, restamp logos or apply foreign substances such as sprays or powder.
Bags should remain:
- Clean and free of excessive wear
- Clearly marked with the manufacturer and series
- Unaltered from their approved state
- Free of substances that could leave residue on the board
An approved bag can still be rejected if it has been altered, is excessively worn or no longer meets the applicable specifications.
ACO-Approved Bags vs. Other Cornhole Bags
| Bag category | What it means | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| ACO approved | Exact manufacturer and series have verifiable ACO eligibility | ACO events and competitive practice |
| ACL approved | Exact manufacturer and series qualify under the applicable ACL program | ACL-sanctioned competition |
| Professional or tournament-style | Performance-oriented marketing or construction; league approval is not implied | League practice and advanced recreational play |
| Regulation size | Bag is described as meeting a dimensional or weight standard | General play; verify league status separately |
| Recreational | Designed primarily for backyard, tailgate or casual use | Informal games and family play |
